The former Liverpool manager says rejoining to coach Liverpool is plausible in theory.

Jurgen Klopp, who stepped down from Anfield in 2024, has suggested that rejoining the club remains an option. The 58-year-old, after a transformative nine-season tenure which brought Champions League success and ending the club's long wait since 1990, currently occupies roles as head of global soccer for Red Bull and providing guidance to Germany's league body.

Fan Sentiment and Klopp’s Candid Remarks

The club claimed the Premier League last season, though countless followers holding him in high esteem would be thrilled by the possibility of his potential comeback. Speaking candidly, he explained to his interviewer: “I said I will never coach any other side within the country. Which implies should it be the Reds...absolutely. Theoretically it’s possible.”

“At 58 years old, so the choice could be mine in a few years, it's uncertain. Must I choose now? If so, I wouldn't return. Fortunately, it's not necessary. I'll simply watch how things unfold.”

Conditions for a Comeback

When asked about what circumstances must arise to tempt his return to the dugout, he revealed he feels no immediate pull for a comeback. “I don’t even know exactly, My present work fulfills me,” he commented. “I don’t miss coaching; No desire to be in the rain for lengthy sessions; I'm glad to skip interviews multiple times weekly or doing numerous chats each week.

“The locker room isn't missed per se, but sitting in a restaurant with the players enjoying conversation, is pleasant. With many victories meaning regularly a very good mood around the place. I still have Van Dijk's laughter vividly recalled to illustrate.”

Praise for His Successor

He spoke highly regarding Arne Slot, crediting him due to the changes which secured the championship last term. They've been defeated a string of losses in all competitions following significant transfers, but he rubbished the notion it could be the start of a downward turn.

“[Liverpool have] a phenomenal forward such as Wirtz, you will all eat your words if you use the wrong words. A remarkable prospect. [Hugo] Ekitike, incredible player. They have a strong balanced team. No need for concern about Liverpool, things will improve.”

Emotional Tribute for the Late Forward

The manager expressed deep feeling on the loss of Jota, a 2020 acquisition in 2020, and the effect for the team. Jota was killed in a car crash alongside his brother this past summer.

“Can you substitute such an individual? It goes beyond his on-field talent, it’s the guy he was. I can’t imagine the team environment absent his presence. I still cannot speak properly about it. It was an incredible shock for all the boys too. Not a single person will ever use it as an excuse though it's a fact. You walk in a dressing room where his spirit remains. Handling this individually is challenging. Overwhelming.”
