Slot Maintains He Feels Safe and Has Liverpool's Support Following PSV Eindhoven Loss

Arne Slot conceded that it's understandable for doubts to be raised about his future after a further convincing loss versus PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds suffered their 9th defeat in 12 matches, representing the club's poorest streak after being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Eredivisie title holders on a punishing night at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, things are alright, I've received plenty of backing from above,” the coach remarked.

“It's important to turn it around and earn three points obviously but if you are coaching a team and underperforming then it's expected that questions are asked.”

He added, “I'm comfortable with my role. This isn't the first time I’ve been in a tough spot but it's necessary that we turned it around.”

Conversations with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to provide details on his dialogues with the Liverpool hierarchy, the head coach explained:

“We communicate frequently. They assist for the squad and to me and we have those conversations but they aren't calling me every single minute of the day to say they trust me.”

He added, “Through standard exchanges I feel the belief. But I've not talked to them since this match yet so let’s see.”

Recurring Problems and Player Reaction

The manager expressed regret over familiar failings from his Liverpool side in their Champions League defeat, specifically poor finishing and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was more direct in his evaluation of the team's situation.

“I don’t have the solutions. Frankly, I don’t. I'm telling that to everyone,” Jones stated.

“It is unacceptable. I don’t even have to wait to reflect. I'm beyond being angry inside. I've reached the stage currently where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He went on, “It’s hard because I play for the team I support. I support them, and I've watched Liverpool for years.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Reds side enduring a phase of this nature with performances so bad.”

He concluded, “But we still have that badge on our shirts. And as long as it is removed, we'll continue to fight.”

“We’re going to try to bring this squad back to the top, show everyone again what this club is about and the reason it's called the top club in the world.”

“However currently, we're in trouble and it needs to change.”
