Information Available Regarding the Fatalities of the Bondi Beach Terrorist Incident
No fewer than 16 individuals lost their lives and over 40 sustained injuries when attackers fired on a Hanukah event at Bondi Beach, an incident Australian police have called a act of terrorism.
As of the newest reports, officials have stated the number of fatalities remains at 16, encompassing one of the alleged gunmen. Moreover, 42 people with injuries were transported to the hospital.
Those who died are still awaiting publicly named, but police believe their ages are from 10 and 87 years old.

Eli Schlanger
London-born clergyman Eli Schlanger, 41, was initially identified.
Reportedly a father-of-five, he served as the assistant rabbi at a local Jewish cultural centre. Relatives and friends spoke of him as “lively, dynamic, and vibrant and a very kind and sociable person who loved to help people”.
“How can a joyful rabbi who went to a beach to spread happiness and light, to make the world a better place, lose his life in this way?” a relative remarked.
Schlanger and his wife celebrated the birth of their youngest child in October.
Alexander Kleytman
Alexander Kleytman was also among those killed, according to his wife.
She described the moments leading up to the attack, saying they were standing when the gunfire started. “He shielded me because he wished to be near me,” she recalled.
The pair were both Holocaust survivors, having experienced immense hardship in their youth. They had later relocated to Australia from Ukraine.
Dan Elkayam
The French authorities have confirmed that French national Dan Elkayam is among the victims.
Publicly, the Foreign Minister expressed that France mourned with his family, the Jewish community, and the Australian people.
“This despicable act is a new, tragic manifestation of a revolting outpouring of hatred against Jews that we must eradicate,” the message read.
One Child
A child who was taken to the a children's hospital is among those who had died, police have confirmed.
One Israeli Citizen
An Israeli citizen was among those killed in the incident, as per multiple sources citing the Israeli government.
Those Injured
Of the 42 people transported to hospitals, many are still under care, with a number in critical condition. Those hurt comprise two officers who responded to the attack.
A casualty is a bystander who attempted to intervene to confront one of the gunmen. Hailed as a local hero, he received bullet wounds but is recovering well in hospital.
Arsen Ostrovsky
One of those wounded is Arsen Ostrovsky, a human rights lawyer. It has been reported he was wounded and underwent treatment in hospital.
He wrote, he recounted the scene as an “horrific scene,” but also noted the actions of those who rushed to help. He stated he believed it was a “miracle” he survived.
Evan Zlatkis
Evan Zlatkis, a community director, was also injured in the shooting. He said he listened to “dozens and dozens” of shots.
“Initially, I believed it was something less lethal, but it’s gone into my own skin and into my leg,” he said. “I sustained a gunshot wound. They bandaged me up. I’m ok.”
