Approximately 25,000 homes in Queensland's southeast found themselves without power on the start of the week after intense storm systems swept through the region, bringing wind gusts reaching over 100 km/h.

Homeowners reported substantial frozen pellets measuring up to 7 centimeters in certain regions. The Bureau of Meteorology announced that different parts across the state had been affected by substantial ice precipitation.

Victoria's Weather Woes
At the same time, nearly one thousand residents in the southern state also experienced electricity disruptions after the capital city recorded its wettest day in 18 months.
State Emergency Services responded to over five hundred requests for assistance across the area, mainly for structural issues but also for fallen timber and flooding.

- Wyndham region - nearly 180 calls for assistance
At one point on yesterday, in excess of 28,000 power users in the state were experiencing outages.
Weather Forecast
Moist weather were forecast to persist along large portions of Queensland's east this week as a weather pattern continued to attract humidity against the coast.
Tuesday was forecast to be the wettest day, with persistent storm activity predicted across multiple regions of both states.
Safety Concern
Public health experts warned that there was an increased chance of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the countryside regions, specifically given the ongoing climate situation.
This alert comes after previous incidents where comparable situations led to substantial respiratory problems in the state.
